Time is going by so fast

Wow, I can't believe it is February already. Spring will be here before I know it! Not too much has been happening for us, other than taking care of Kelson and Kaydin. I forget how much time a newborn takes, especially one who likes to held a lot and then you have a big brother who is fighting for attention..............and then there is the dog who is trying to get his attention too. All that makes it super busy for us and I feel like we are barely able to keep the house in order. I take each day at a time and remember that they grown up so fast, certain things can wait! Over the past week, Kelson is getting stronger every day. He is holding his head up better each day. He also follows objects or people with his eyes. It is fun to watch him. He is getting a little more social and sorta smiles every once in a while. I get a few sounds out of him, but not too much cooing yet!! On the not so fun side, he has decided the evenings are a good time to get fussy. We have had a couple nights of crying and screaming. We are experimenting with what works and doesn't work with him. We are also still working on the sleeping situation. Wow, I feel like I am a first time parent all over again!

Kelson sleeping with dad...........one of his favorite things!!

The three boys watching some TV (well, Kelson is still sleeping)
A little smile!! Plus Kelson is wearing his first pair of shoes! We went to Applebee's for dinner and they were doing face painting!
Kaydin trying extra hard to make a "mean" look

Wow, only eight more days until he is a month old!

Wow, he is three weeks and two days old now. In eight days it will be a month already. My time off is going so fast but at the same time, so very slow. I guess the slow time is those many hours I am awake in the middle of the night with only infomercials to watch!!

He looks like he has grown so much, I have no idea how much he weighs now, but I bet he is getting close to 11 pounds. He doesn't go back to the doctor until he is two months old. He has started to sleep in his bassinet a little now (thank goodness). I have to wait until he is asleep pretty good before laying him down. He also seems to be getting a little more independent, because there are times when he is a little fussy and when I lay him on the floor he is happy as can be! Kaydin is starting to show us that he is having a hard time not getting all our attention. We are working with him and waiting for this phase to be over.

This weekend will be Kelson's first camping trip (to the dunes of course)! Hopefully the weather will be nice and we won't be stuck in the trailer the whole time.

He holds his head up pretty good!!
Dodger's ball ended up right by Kelson's head, he walked all around Kelson trying to figure out a way to get the ball........he decided he couldn't get it so he just laid there and looked at it until we got it for him!
Kaydin thought Kelson was pretty heavy!
I love this picture!
We actually captured a smile!

The first couple weeks

I can't believe Kelson is 2 1/2 weeks old already. Time has actually been going by pretty fast. We have had some visitors and taken a few local trips to visit friends & family. During the end of his first week/beginning of his second week he had jaundice pretty bad. Luckily we were able to do special light therapy at home. With persistent feedings and the light therapy, Kelson is feeling much better. He sleeps a lot and has his nights and days a little mixed up. Kelson still doesn't like his bassinet, so it is becoming quite exhausting for Shannon and I to hold him at night while he sleeps. I am hoping that one day he will actually lay in his bassinet and stay asleep for a few hours. I am sure it will come with time!

Big brother Kaydin loves Kelson (except when he is crying), he is always giving him kisses and telling him different things.

Kelson is pretty strong, even the nurses commented on how strong he was right after he was born. He lifts his head up pretty good and has very strong legs. He doesn't mind being on his belly on the floor. I am looking forward to the day that he actually smiles back at us. I have seen his smile a couple times and I look forward to seeing it a lot more.

Welcome Baby Kelson

Kelson Anthony Affolter arrived on December 28th at 4:24 p.m. He weighed 9 lbs, 13 oz and was 20 inches long. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes. We are hoping that he continues to get more hair and that his eyes stay blue!! We only stayed one night in the hospital and came home to be with Kaydin and be reminded of what life is like with a newborn. Kelson is somewhat laid back, except when he is hungry he is "starving!" He likes to sleep and has his nights and days a little mixed up and he only likes to sleep in our arms. I am sure the sleeping habits will change in time (at least I hope)!

This is minutes after he was born!

I still can't believe he weighed that much!

He had a slight fever, so he had to cool off.

His first bath!
Proud daddy!!

Patiently Waiting

I know, it has been a really long time since I have made a blog entry. Well, this last weekend I got a laptop which makes it really nice to be sitting or laying in bed while on the computer! Too bad I couldn't work from home! As you all know, we got pregnant back in April, which is a HUGE reason why I have neglected my blog. I have been sick the whole time pretty much. I am now at the final stretch and am hoping for the baby to be here any day now. My due date isn't until the 26th, but the doctor said he most likely will be early. I promise to do more blogging once he is here and I am feeling better. I know I will be lacking sleep, but I am ready for that! We just purchased a digital video camera, so I plan to post a video of our new addition on you tube. So, be on the lookout! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Spiderman & Making Pizza

I never thought I'd meet Spiderman, but recently my day came. He was about 3 1/2 feet tall and quite energetic!! Kaydin got this mask as a gift a while back. He likes it (obviously)! I thought I'd snap this picture to capture his amazing imagination!

We decided to make homemade pizzas, you know, the ones on english muffins!! Kaydin was our chef for the night! He loves to help cook and bake with us!

He had to try out the pepperoni (doesn't help that dad has to walk by and grab some)!
All finished!
Tastes good to me!!! To us adults, it had way to much sauce on it, we can't expect perfection at age 4 right??
I am leaving tomorrow for a girls vacation. I fly in to Phoenix to meet up with my wonderful and dear friend Angela. I stay with her for two nights (thank you for hosting me Angela and family) and then Saturday off we go for a road trip to Vegas. Oh yes, this will be the trip of a lifetime! We are then meeting up with another dear friend, Misty, and staying in Vegas for three nights. I then fly home late Tuesday night! It will be so much fun! I will be posting more about the trip once I am back.

A really busy weekend

We were pretty busy this past weekend. It started out with my very first experience at the Melting Pot. I went with my friend Missy and it was so wonderful. I am looking forward to the next time I get to go there!

Here we are with our waiter, Jerry! He was so much fun!Saturday we started our morning by being woke up by an excited 4 1/2 year old at 4:00 a.m. He was so excited because we were going to Monster Jam. If you didn't know already, Kaydin is obsessed with monster trucks. It was a good time. We went with Shannon's brother Jeff, his wife Jessa and their son Blake. Kaydin really enjoyed getting signatures from the drivers. What a romantic Valentine's Day!

Here is a short video of Grave Digger!

Sunday we went up in the snow. I started this family tradition last year and I want to continue it! We have been so busy and I wanted to get it in before the snow is gone. The snow is pretty deep where we ended up stopping. It was fun and Kaydin enjoyed the sled rides and playing in the snow!

Here is a short video of Kaydin on the sled run Shannon made!
